Congolese go to the polls on Sunday (June 16) for legislative and local level polls. The entire country has seen a surge in political activity since campaigning began weeks back.
The situation in the commercial city of Pointe Noire is no different as politicians have splashed their photos on billboards across intersections and along streets.
The political buzz comes despite a poll boycott by three opposition parties, FROCAD, they were opposed to the amendment of the Constitution in 2015, which scrapped presidential term limits to allow President Sassou Nguesso run in March 20 elections, which he won by over 60%.

At least 30 percent of Members of Parliament and local elected representatives must be youths and women.
Some 2 million voters are expected at the polls coming Sunday to choose among the over 1,400 candidates for the two tier vote. Campaigns are supposed to end Friday night in fulfillment of the 48 hour duration before polls open.
